1. Basavanagudi
This would be one of my first choices for a traditional Bangalore experience. Walk around Bull Temple, Gandhi Bazaar and the surrounding streets. You’ll find old shops, local eateries and a more relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere.
2. KR Market
Go in the morning if you want to see Bangalore’s busy market culture. The flower, vegetable and wholesale sections are especially interesting. It can be crowded, but that is also part of the experience.
3. Chickpet
Chickpet is worth exploring if you enjoy old markets and shopping streets. You’ll find textile shops, jewellery stores and narrow lanes with plenty of local activity.
4. Malleswaram
Malleswaram is another good area for walking. Explore 8th Cross, Sampige Road and nearby streets for traditional shops, temples and local food.
5. VV Puram
For food, spend an evening around VV Puram Food Street. It is a simple way to try different local snacks in one place.
How I Would Explore
I wouldn’t try to cover all these areas in one day. A better approach is to combine nearby places:
Basavanagudi → Gandhi Bazaar → Bull Temple → VV Puram
Another day could be:
Malleswaram → Chickpet → KR Market
Wear comfortable footwear and keep your schedule flexible. These neighbourhoods are best experienced by walking slowly, stopping at small food places and observing the local markets, rather than rushing from one attraction to another.
